WIKI

For our group project we are using the technology of Wiki. It is a website where everyone can look up information, add to any wiki, and it is a way to share information and communicate with others. I think it could be a really useful tool in the classroom for group discussions or you could even make a wiki for the class. You can select different search options including Wikipedia, Indie Wikis, or encyclopedias. When using this for a search tool anything and everything pops up kind of like Google but the top sites usually come up as Wikipedia sites.

  1. This sounds like it could be a really useful classroom resource, especially if you can make your own, but how do you know that the information is reliable since people can add to them? Is there a way that you can control the things that are added or the way incorrect information is shared?

  2. good information for wiki. i am not very familiar with it, but it sounds like it could be very helpful in a classroom setting. i think emily posed a very good question though. is all information tha is added to wiki reliable enough to use in research papers, etc?

  3. There is a setting that makes all changes be submitted to the creator of the wiki, so that if anything is changed it is monitored first.
